The words within these pages are for music. They sing of love lost and found and lost again. They are hymns to the dying, sonnets to the summer, and verses of the joy of being wanted - even for a night. Love words - gentle, direct, beautifully lasting.
The poems were written by Rod McKuen, one of the finest chansonniers and songwriters in the country today. By writing songs Mr. McKuen has become a craftsman as well as a poet, and his work is, above all, lyrical and warm, and sensitive. As Glenn Yarbrough said, "an extension of the man himself." Stanyan Street and Other Sorrows is divided into five segments and an autobiographical poem. Included are "Stanyan Street," "Kearny Street," "The Yellow Unicorn," a selection of lyrics from Rod McKuen songs, and a number of poems written as early as 1954.
This antique hardback book is in fair condition. The reason being is because the front page was torn out. Copyright 1967. Weighs: 10.5 oz.
